About #5050

In the film 50/50, Emmy-nominated filmmaker & founder of The Webby Awards Tiffany Shlain explores the 10,000 year history of women + power and asks, where are we really on the greater arc of history of women and power? And what’s it going to take to get to a #5050 world — not just politics and board rooms, but truly shifting the gender balance to be better for everyone.

The film premiered live at #TEDWomen on Oct 27th and to 275 TEDx’s globally and online on @Refinery29 and on TV on Comcast. It has received over 3 million views to date.

We will be participating in the Women’s March and having various screenings in Washington D.C. over the weekend of January 20th, 2017. To find out about these screenings sign-up for our newsletter.

MAY 10, 2017

Recent events have made it loud and clear: we need to have a national conversation about what it’s going to take to get to a 50/50 world, and about the greater context of this struggle toward gender equality. That’s why we are creating an annual 50/50 Day, a day of thousands and thousands of events around the globe, all on the same day, talking and planning about how to get to a 50/50 world — not just in politics and board rooms, across all parts of society. Each of these thousands of events will screen the 20 minute film 50/50, engage with free hands-on discussion kits and robust online resources, brainstorm solutions, and join a global Q&A livecasting the most powerful voices leading this movement. Thousands of events. Millions of perspectives. Join us.

50/50 Day will follow the model of our annual Character Day, which this past fall had over 93,000 events in 125 countries.
