Exciting News: Leonard Shlain’s last book, Leonardo’s Brain, Coming out this Fall, Courtesy of Lyon’s Press / Globe Pequot

Dear Friends and Fans of Leonard Shlain,

It is with great joy and gratitude that we can announce the posthumous publishing of our father’s last book, Leonardo’s Brain: Understanding Da Vinci’s Creative Genius which he completed shortly before he passed five years ago.

The official release date is Oct. 7 and it is available for pre-order now. We will be hosting events to celebrate the book’s release in San Francisco on Oct 11th, and later in Los Angeles and New York, details forthcoming.

Leonardo’s Brain is not only one of his grand intellectual journeys akin to his books Art & PhysicsThe Alphabet vs The Goddess and Sex, Time and Power, but also has a particularly special meaning as it, in many ways, represents a culmination of so many of the ideas connecting neurology, history, philosophy, art science and ourselves, projecting on a screen that was the brain of a man he viewed as a glimpse into the what the future of our species could become.

We have so many of you to thank-- from our publisher John Sternfeld at Lyon’s Press (now Globe Pequot), Robert Stricker, his long time literary agent and particularly Andy Ross, the literary agent for Leonardo’s Brain who seized the opportunity to bring this book to market with zeal our father would have loved.  We also want to thank editor Ann Patty, (The Life of Pi) who we worked with to edit the book. Representing our father’s ideas through all the different stages of the edit and publication process was to have conversations with him in our minds - which was definitely a gift.

Our father loved more than anything to share. As his children, we are honored to share this book with you.  We hope to see you at one of the events and if you have any thoughts or ideas on how we can get the word out (aside from tweeting and facebooking this link: http://www.leonardshlain.com), we would be delighted to hear them.

Warmest Regards,

Tiffany Shlain, Jordan Shlain & Kimberly Brooks
