Magillah: A sequence of words wound onto a scroll and unwound to tell a story

Think of all the quintessential Jewish moments in film and TV that we love. Now imagine them all wound together to retell the American Jewish experience.

This participatory art project builds on the National Museum of American Jewish History collection “choices and challenges of freedom: from 1945 – Today” and from American films and TV shows.  Our public call for participation invites everyone to suggest clips that exemplify moments in the American Jewish Experience from Cabaret to Sophie’s Choice to The Graduate to Dirty Dancing to Private Benjamin to Mr. Spock’s Kohan sign with his fingers.

We invite you to share your ideas for film/tv moments to by posting directly on Facebook here
